During the 1998 Texas Journey of Hope, Sunny Jacobs said Marietta is a “shining being”. I think that is a great description of Marietta. I know that just to be in her presence is to be uplifted and to be warmed by her radiant smile. Her joyous spirit permeates the air around her. I first heard her tell her story in 1994 when she and Magdaleno Rose-Avila came to Alaska to do a speaking tour. Our paths have crossed several times over the ensuing years. Last summer I was honored to have Marietta and her husband Bob as houseguests. Marietta – I hope this is you best birthday ever!
